Ear to the Street LXVIII

Guess who’s baaaaaaaaack… That’s right ladies and gents, after a brief hiatus, the good people of ABMiV are here to give you a tasty assortment of the latest and greatest beats. In other words: here is what I’m listening to this week, and you can too! Enjoy!

The Recipe - Kendrick Lamar & Dr. Dre

This jam right here is smooth like finely aged scotch. Straight west coast vibe here, very nuanced, understated beat, with a nice juxtaposition of unique flows. What more can I say, welcome to LA.

We’ll Be Coming Back - Calving Harris & Example

Calvin Harris has developed quite a formula for churning out hit after hit. Although each song has its distinctive element, they all undoubtedly have his mark heavily upon them. Although this beat has been traveling around the internet for a minute, it was just debut on Harris’ BBC One radio show yesterday. Fresh.

Hands on the Wheel - Schoolboy Q & A$AP Rocky

This is my jam, right here. Two up and comers who are starting to make major noise get on this collaboration and produce on of the best of 2012 so far. Love the Pursuit of Happiness sample.

Labrinth, Tinie Tempah, B.o.B, Nicki Minaj, Cash Out, and Kirko Bangz after the jump.

DeShawn Stevenson Has an ATM in his Kitchen

Who would have thought that the guy with the Abe Lincoln throat tattoo would be the kind of guy that has an ATM in his kitchen? Well, yeah I guess everybody. That’s right folks, the amazing photo you see above is an Instagram snaps of the veteran shooting guard for the Brooklyn Nets with what appears to be a cash machine in the foreground of his kitchen. It must be so convenient to be able to make it rain without leaving the house.

Falsely Imprisioned, Former Football Star Gets Another Shot

Ten years ago, Brian Banks had it made. As a sixteen year old, he was already attracting attention from the best college football programs in America while starring to California prep powerhouse Long Beach Poly. The 6’4” 225 lb. Banks was widely regarded as one of the best inside linebackers in the country, when he accepted a full scholarship to USC.

What happened next is a travesty of modern justice.  Quite simply, the system failed him.

Ear to the Street LXVII

Coming at ya with all guns blazing on this glorious long weekend! Good Friday needs some good music, and this edition of ETTS does not disappoint. We got the latest from ABMiV favourites Kanye West, Childish Gambino, David Guetta, and more. Get groovy folks, its Ear to the Street.

Childish Gambino - Eat Your Vegetables

In this day and age of social media, and endless hype, its rare that an artist drops a new track with no advance warning and little fanfare. But really, we should start to expect the unexpected from Gambino. Best lyricist in the game.

David Guetta & Nicky Romero - Metropolis

This long awaited collaboration recently leaked online, and it does not disappoint. This is not as poppy as what we are accustomed to from Guetta. Call it a return to his roots of harder house.

DJ Khaled & Kanye West - Theraflu

This joint here recently premiered on Funkmaster Flex’s radio set, and it’s a little different from what you might expect: there’s no “we da best” of Khaled saying his name over and over. At the same time, the best is pretty down tempo for a Khaled piece. Kanye is simply himself, which is all we could ask for.
